Sunday

Today we did not pop up. We were more like french toast, sticking to a frying pan, we eventually peeled ourselves from bed ( and the view) to enjoy coffee and the cool morning breezes.
It is really Hot here, ninety something and no midday air movement. We were told it's the hottest spot on the island. We went to church at nine, not the one you see here, this is the wedding chapel at the Wailea Beach Marriot Resort and Spa( rooms start at $438.00 a night). Truly spectacular! After worshipping we intended to take a long walk along the shore where the glorious beaches are, but it was soo hot we thought we

might 'pass'. So we returned to Cheeseburger in Paradise to nourish ouselves for the ride home.
A baseball game, blogging a little painting and another sunset are in progress.

Fist Maui Adventure

I popped up at five, like a piece of toast. My honey prefers to doze.
I groped my way up the blackened stairs and fondled my way to the bathroom for a beach towel. I did the 'sleepwalk' to the upper patio, slipped the screen door open and lit the outdoor candle. Laying down, on the chaise lounge at 5:15 a.m. I began to count the stars.
1, 2, 3, Is that Orion's Belt? It must be. Wow,what a good start . . plus 17 more.
Dan wakens we munch poached eggs, strawberry guava jam on toast and we're on the road by eight.
North to Lahaina, Napili and Kapalua. It is real high densitity; one multi storied cement monstrosity after another. Where do the Hawaiian people live? The winding road is teeming with 'athletes'.
Dan's great quote: "People on Maui Do, Do, Do and all that doo-doo."

We settle onto a quiet beach and let the waves soothe our reservations. The surf is pretty rough, we watch the surfers and kick back. Chips, salsa and a Keoki Sunset to keep the energy up, We move along, exploring Oneloa Beach then lunch at The Gazebo. Fifteen tables overlooking the beach, nice seafood and very Halloweeny. Boo!
We retrace our steps back South and drive to the end of the road at Makena. Listening to Hawaiian music, our Girl from Anahola,it is more like Kauai here: a one lane road along the ocean, a fish taco truck.
Home to watch the Cleveland Indians lose and reflect on a lovely day.
My only yoga was an Ujjayi Breath, inhaling to the count of eight (pause)and exhaling to the count of twelve.
I planned to paint, but it was too windy on the beach. It will happen.
Another awe inspiring sunset, why paint!?

We have Landed

This first night on Maui, a heavenly sunset from our hilltop cabana above Kihei.
We landed and shopped at Foodland before settling in for the evening. Mai Tais and sushi complete the dinner for this exhausted duo.
A baby gecko chirps as Dan finds enough energy to make a batch of Macaroni salad, which he loads up with peas and a maui onion.
Sunset was at six p.m. We'll watch the Maui Travel channel to plan tomorrow's adventure. Dan's first impression. . . ."we've made a Big Mistake!" My first impression, "Why would anyone turn an island paradise into Los Angeles look alike?" (gaudy)
I laid down on our four poster bed and honestly, couldn't stand back up.
Dan came to get me. Let's go to bed early!
We explored the swimming pool just feet from our bedroom door and fell asleep watching the ocean. It is so quiet here and there are a million stars!
